Surprise! I started a podcast!
I have wanted to host a podcast for years. I mostly listen to educational podcasts, but I have a real soft spot for interview podcasts like Off Camera with Sam Jones, where creatives really let their guards down and shed light on their careers, their processes, and how it truly feels to make a living in the arts.
I am hard at work on new music, but while I would love to drop new songs every time I get a comment asking “when are you releasing [insert title of TikTok snippet here],” there’s just no way I can do my music justice without taking my time with it. New music IS coming - I have plans and projects and I will tell you more about all of it when I can. But for now, I am embarking on something a little different, which is “What Were You Thinking?”
For the foreseeable future, I will be interviewing people who work primarily in music, but as time goes on I will expand my reach to speak with novelists, poets, actors, directors, screenwriters, comedians—anyone who has forged a difficult path in a creative field. My first episode is with Rahki, who produced my first album and is part of the small, core group of talented and generous individuals who helped get my career off the ground. We met in 2018, but Rahki has been a pillar of the industry for over a decade. It was really wonderful to sit down with him and talk more about his early years in depth. I hope you enjoy this conversation, and I can’t wait to share the rest of them with you.
